Catholic Women’s Guild at Ladyewell

14. September, 2018Feature, Homepage Slider, Ladyewell NewsComments Off

On the 25th of August,2018 , members of the Catholic Women’s League , Lancaster Diocese were on their annual pilgrimage to Ladyewell. These are ladies who are deeply devoted to Our Lady of Fernyhalgh and Lancashire Martyrs. It was a lovely memory for all of them.

Holy Mass was solemnly celebrated by Fr Ernest Attah . Fr Mario Ashuikeka and Fr Oliver Onah, a visiting priest from Nigeria were concelebrants at the Mass. At the end of the Mass, a certificate of pilgrimage was presented to Mrs Margaret Valentine, the National President of the league who came to honour Our Lady of Fernyhalgh with the Ladies of Lancaster diocese.

At 2:30pm the Blessed Sacrament was exposed and Benediction was celebrated for them. During this session, he gave them reflection on the role of women in the family. It was a beautiful event and they thanked all our volunteers for their marvellous and unique services.

We appreciate all those who helped in the organisation of the event. Special thank you to Mrs Phillipa Catterall , Diocesan President and Mrs Sue Gornall, Diocesan Secretary.

8 September – Our Lady’s Birthday

14. September, 2018Homepage Slider, Ladyewell NewsComments Off

Though it rained persistently in Preston today, people of God nevertheless gathered in numbers at Ladyewell Shrine to celebrate with us the Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Their active participation in the liturgy was excellent. Fr Mario gave a wonderful homily in which he beckoned on each and every one of us to submit our imperfections or weaknesses to God who knows how to use what is weak to shame the proud since his power is made manifest in weakness. After Spiritual activities , we had social aspects of the celebration where we sang Happy Birthday Song to Our Lady , enjoyed our birthday cake and other contents of light refreshments.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU , BLESSED VIRGIN MARY.

Lancaster Diocesan Pilgrimage 2018

29. July, 2018Church News, Feature, Homepage Slider, Ladyewell NewsComments Off

PHOTO-2018-07-15-23-44-19It was a lovely afternoon Saturday the 14th of July 2018 at Ladyewell Shrine as the Bishop of Lancaster Diocese, Rt Rev Paul Swarbrick led his flock on Pilgrimage to this ancient Marian centre and Holy ground.

The event commenced with a solemn Holy Mass at St Mary’s Church Fernyhalgh.  During the Homily an essential part of the Mass, Bishop Swarbrick emphasised the need to make recourse to God who is our fountain of living water. Whoever comes to Jesus in the Eucharist will never thirst. Only God can satisfy the yearnings of our souls.

Holy Mass was followed by exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and then solemn procession to the Shrine of Our Lady and Lancashire Martyrs.

Special thank you to all who attended the Pilgrimage. Thank you very much for your active participation.

God bless you all.
