Reliquary

The Holy Reliquary at Ladyewell

Nestled within the quiet sanctuary of Ladyewell Shrine is one of the most precious treasures of our Catholic heritage: the Holy Reliquary. This sacred space houses an extraordinary collection of relics, drawing pilgrims from far and wide who come in prayer, reverence, and faith.

“Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.”

— Proverbs 4:23

A Bridge between Heaven & Earth

A Sacred Communion with the Saints

The reliquary contains over 300 relics of the saints, including first-class relics—items directly associated with the physical remains of saints, such as bone or hair—as well as second-class relics, which are items they personally used or wore. These holy remnants form a living bridge between Heaven and Earth, inviting all who visit into deeper communion with the Church Triumphant.

Among them are relics of some of the Church’s most beloved saints: St Thomas More, St John Fisher, St Teresa of Ávila, St Bernadette, St Padre Pio, and many others. Each relic bears silent witness to lives lived in holiness, courage, and devotion.

A Place of Quiet Contemplation

Pilgrims are welcome to spend time in prayer before the reliquary. It is a peaceful, contemplative space at the heart of Ladyewell, where hearts are lifted, intentions are offered, and souls find comfort in the presence of the saints.

Many visitors report a profound sense of peace here, and often leave with a renewed strength for their own spiritual journey. We invite you to bring your intentions, your thanksgiving, and your longing for holiness to this sacred place.

An Unbroken Witness to Faith

Ladyewell’s reliquary is not only a spiritual treasure but also a historical testimony to the enduring faith of Catholics in England. Passed down and safeguarded through times of persecution, the collection stands as a silent but powerful witness to the resilience of the Church and the grace of God working through His saints.
